Policy module: src/events/compliance/policies/dk.py (DenmarkPolicy: no restriction, one organizer notice).

Status

No country-specific restrictions identified for Revel. Some organizers (for example discos) must register their sales in their own digital sales-registration system (see below).

Research found no rule that requires Revel to block attendee invoicing or online or offline payments for organizers in Denmark. This is not a guarantee that organizers have no obligations of their own: as merchant of record they remain responsible for their tax and invoicing duties.

What Revel does

  • No country-specific restriction: attendee invoicing and online/offline payments are allowed.
  • Organizer notice (non-blocking), for organizers established in Denmark, shown next to the offline / at-the-door payment setting: "If your business must record sales digitally (for example cafés, bars and discos), record your Revel ticket and door sales there too."
  • The common ticket content applies.
  • Digital sales-registration requirement (momsbekendtgørelsen). Since 1 January 2024, businesses with turnover under DKK 10 million whose main activity falls in one of these sectors must use a digital sales-registration system that meets the VAT order's requirements:
  • cafés, pubs and discos (caféer, værtshuse, diskoteker mv.);
  • pizzerias, grill bars and ice-cream bars (pizzeriaer, grillbarer, isbarer mv.);
  • grocery stores and kiosks (købmænd og døgnkiosker);
  • restaurants.

What the business actually does decides coverage, not the industry it is registered under. The system must record card and mobile payments, cash, and online sales through the business's own website and through third-party portals. Online sales may be recorded on a virtual point of sale. Skattestyrelsen does not approve or certify systems; the business is responsible for using a compliant one. skat.dk: Nye krav til digital salgsregistrering, Skattestyrelsen FAQ for businesses - Revel is not such a system and does not need to be: the duty is on the covered business, which records its Revel sales in its own system.

Open questions

  • Admission sold by a covered business. For a disco, pub or café whose main activity is covered, do entry tickets sold through Revel (a third-party portal) have to be recorded in its sales-registration system? Skattestyrelsen's guidance says online sales through third-party portals must be recorded, which points to yes, but the official texts reviewed do not mention admission or tickets explicitly. No Revel gate; Danish organizers get a non-blocking notice instead.
  • Door sales recorded in Revel by a covered business would also have to go through its own system.
  • Ticket-specific or event-specific rules (for example local levies) were not part of this review.

Later layers

None planned. No issue is open for Denmark.
